Police: Sex offender used computers at job center to download child porn

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Police in Charlotte say they caught a man using computers at Goodwill Job Service Centers to view and download child pornography.

54-year-old Daniel Luna is already a convicted sex offender and listed on the national registry. He was convicted in Florida for sex crimes against a 12-year-old girl..

He now faces third degree sexual exploitation charges.

A search warrant from CMPD says Luna is connected to three incidents in Charlotte; one in January and two in March of this year.

In the first case, the warrant says Luna was reported to his probation officer by Goodwill for using a job services computer to view child pornography. He was banned from the location.

The warrant says CMPD was not contacted, but Luna was given a probation violation and arrested.

The next incident, according to the search warrant, happened at the Goodwill JobLink center on South Boulevard. Another client reported seeing lewd images on Luna's computer.

The warrant says Luna left and his probation officer was again contacted.

The third incident happened a few days later, Luna was spotted by Goodwill security at the JobLink center and was remotely videotaped downloading  pornographic images.

He's being held on a $265,000 bond in the Mecklenburg County Jail.

Goodwill Industries of the Southern Piedmont sent WBTV a statement saying "The computers at Goodwill's Job Resource Centers are to be used for job search purposes only.  This includes doing on-line job searches, researching companies in preparation for job interviews, applying for jobs on-line and writing resumes. Access to social media networks such as Facebook is restricted."
