Cincinnati native drowns in Alum Creek near Columbus

DELAWARE, OH (FOX19) - Authorities say a Cincinnati man drowned over the weekend near Columbus.

Robert K. McCoy, 44, was swimming at the beach in Alum Creek State Park with his fiance and children.

According to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, he went missing in the water and other people swimming in the area found him and brought him to shore.

Two deputies were already at the scene and gave CPR and AED shock treatment to McCoy. He was then taken to Westerville Medical Center where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

McCoy and his family are originally from Cincinnati but had been living in Columbus.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Franklin County Coroner's office.
