CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

A fake cop was sentenced to prison on Tuesday.

Donald Ashley, 25, was sentenced to two and a half years behind bars.

On November 10, 2012, Ashley and his "partner," Kamal Dosari, 19, pulled their vehicle up next to a 37-year-old man while he was walking his dog in the area of East 161st Street and Grovewood Avenue in Cleveland.

The suspects exited their vehicle while wearing badges around their necks and approached the victim stating that he fit the description of a robbery suspect. They began asking him questions which the victim answered, believing them to be police officers.

One of the suspects then went through the victim's pockets and removed $600 from his wallet. The victim asked for his money back and one of the suspects pulled a gun on him and told him to go home or he would be shot. The victim ran home and called the police.

Cleveland Police located the suspects' vehicle nearby and both suspects exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Dosari was arrested a short distance from where police located the vehicle and Ashley was arrested at his home later that day.

On May 20, Ashley and Dosari pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and one count of impersonation of certain officers.

Dosari is to be sentenced at a later date.
