Undocumented immigrant charged in deadly accident

MEDINA, OH (WOIO) -

The Ohio State Highway Patrol has filed charges against 22 year old Mateo Ralios Delacruz in connection with a two vehicle fatal crash that occurred on June 13, 2013. The crash took place on State Route 18 between Beach Road and SR 94 in Granger Township.

The day of the crash, Delacruz gave the investigating officers identification with the name of Gilberto Ralios, age 20. However after further investigation, the identification was proven to be false and the suspect's true name is Mateo Ralios Delacruz age 22, an undocumented immigrant from Guatemala.

Delacruz was traveling westbound on State Route 18 in a 2006 Ford Fusion when he went left of center and struck a 1996 Chrysler LHS driven by Eric Kaskevic age 34 of Strongsville, Ohio. The passenger in Kaskevic car, Chad M. Nelson age 29 of Columbus, Ohio died as a result of the crash.

Also after further investigation, the 2006 Ford Fusion driven by Mateo Ralios Delacruz, was reported as being stolen by its owner.

Delacruz is charged with Aggravated Vehicular homicide, Aggravated Vehicular Assault, Receiving Stolen Property, Falsification and OVI with a blood alcohol concentration level of .123%.

Delacruz is currently incarcerated in The Medina County Jail awaiting arraignment.
