Website ranks best and worst cities to celebrate 4th of July

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - With the 4th of July just a week away, has announced its rankings for the Best & Worst Cities to Celebrate Independence Day in 2013.

Cincinnati was ranked No. 21 on the list.

With cost-effective festivities in mind, CardHub compared the 30 largest metropolitan areas in the United States – which are always popular vacation destinations – based on the following factors:

  • 4th of July Popularity
  • Weather Forecast
  • Price of a 3-Star Hotel
  • Number of Bars & Restaurants
  • Number of Arts, Entertainment & Recreation Establishments
  • Walkability
  • Traffic Congestion
  • Legality of Fireworks

Based on this analysis, Los Angeles ranked No. 1, followed by Chicago, San Francisco, New York and Minneapolis. Kansas City was at the bottom of the list.

Fourth of July spending is expected to be significantly higher in 2013 than in years past. Americans, including those who are not planning overnight trips, are expected to spend an average of $300 on Independence Day celebrations this year – 58 percent more than the $190 they shelled out last year.
