BOONE COUNTY, KY (FOX19) - Friends of the Shelter hosted PetFest 2013 at Boone Woods Park in Boone County on June 30 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The annual event is designed to offer animal lovers an opportunity to adopt a new pet or to enjoy the outdoors with a current pet.
PetFest offered information about animal life saving activities and ways to connect with animal welfare and rescue organizations.
The day also included contests, a pet psychic, a silent auction, and dog trainers for participants.
Participants were also asked to donate money to help the mission of Friends of the Shelter.
"Friends of the Shelter is an all-volunteer organization," said Bonnie Ravenscraft, Friends of the Shelter President. "One hundred percent of the proceeds of this event go to benefit local animals and support spay/neuter and other vital programs."
