Community lines street to welcome home local soldier

HEBRON, KY (FOX19) -

A very special homecoming was held Wednesday for a Northern Kentucky soldier.

Donjoy Drive in Hebron was lined with people welcoming home 1st Lt. Andrew VonHandorf.

He has been deployed for the last nine months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and the community wanted to make sure his homecoming was special.

"This community is wonderful. I mean seriously, to come together the way that they did today and show their patriotism the way that they did, it's incredible. It's just amazing," said Lt. VonHandorf.

Neighbors brought flags, signs and balloons to make sure it was a day he'll never forget.

We thank you for your service, Andrew!
