(FOX19) - Despite the weather, it didn't seem to rain on anyone's parade in the Tri-State!

In Ft. Thomas, the 4th of July kicked off with the annual Campbell County YMCA Firecracker 5K Run.

The race began in Tower Park and proceeds were donated to Campbell County YMCA's scholarship program. The race was followed by the annual Ft. Thomas Independence Day parade.

The theme for this year's parade was 'Our community, generations strong', and as previously mentioned, all the floats, bands, cars, and community groups participated despite the rain!

The City of Montgomery also celebrated on Thursday, kicking off with a parade on Cooper and Montgomery Road. Afterwards, residents attended the 4th of July festival in Montgomery Park enjoying hot dogs, lemonade, pony rides and a baseball game!

Residents in Kenton County celebrated Independence Day with the annual Ft. Mitchell 4th of July parade Thursday afternoon.

The Knights of Columbus Honor Guard led the event this year. The theme: 'My Old Kentucky Home'.
