Woman honors mom with Kidney Disease benefit

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - What do football and kidney disease have in common? Kaci Kust.

Kust, in collaboration with the National kidney Foundation, is hosting Tackle Kidney Disease. The event features a fashion show to benefit the National Kidney Foundation.

In May of 2012, Kust's mother was diagnosed with FSG syndrome- a hidden disease caused by kidney failure. She was completely healthy prior to the diagnosis.

Kust was blind sided by the diagnosis. "I can't heal my mom's kidneys or give her a new one, but I know I can raise money and awareness to help fight the disease that almost took her from me," said Kust in a press release. "That realization is how Tackle Kidney Disease was born."

The show will be held Saturday evening at the Bell Event Center from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
