Child dies after getting pinned between furniture

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A 5-year-old boy has died after getting pinned between furniture, according to the Warren County Coroner's Office

It happened around 9:45 a.m. Monday morning on Talon Court in Hamilton Township.

Dispatchers say they received a call about a child stuck in between two pieces of furniture and not breathing. The child was taken to Bethesda Arrow Springs Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to the coroner's office, the boy, who had cerebral palsy, became pinned between a recliner and a couch. The preliminary cause of death is asphyxiation.

The death is being called accidental and no foul play is expected.

The boy has been identified as Christian Shelton. His father, Matt, was going to be sworn in as a full time firefighter this week.

Donatiosn to the family can be made at any 5/3 bank to the IAFF 4055 fund for the benefit of the Shelton Family.
