A driver has been sentenced for fatally striking a bicyclist in October of last year.
Melvin White, 50, avoided jail time. He must make a $1,000 donation towards bike safety, not drive for three years, do 100 hours of community service and two years of home incarceration.
White hit and killed Andrew Gast, 27, on Wilmer Avenue. According to court documents, White failed to maintain assured clear distance and struck Gast from behind.
