Keys Spared From Ivan

Florida Keys spared but others are worried about Ivan

An Alabama bar manager says she hopes Ivan goes to Texas. While she wishes no harm, Susan Poston says she'd prefer not to cope with a third hurricane. Business already is depressed from the effects of Hurricanes Frances and Charley.

At last word, Ivan was heading for Cuba and later expected to take aim at the Florida Panhandle and the rest of the Gulf Coast, including Alabama and Louisiana.

Residents along Florida's west coast have battened down the hatches and stocked up on food and worry. Folks in Alabama already are scattering. One mobile home owner near Fowl River says she's leaving -- and so are her neighbors. A decision is expected today on whether to order Panhandle evacuations. An evacuation order for the Florida Keys has been lifted.
