Police identify fatal Westwood shooting victim

WESTWOOD, OH (FOX19) -

Police have identified a man found shot to death in the common room of a Westwood apartment complex.

The victim was discovered around 7 p.m. on Friday evening at a complex in the 3200 block of Gobel Avenue, just off of Westwood-Northern Boulevard.

According to police, 31-year-old Justin Owensby was found lying on his back suffering from gunshot wounds. Five to six empty rounds were found around his body.

Police say shots were heard by neighbors around 10 p.m. on Thursday evening, so they suspect the shooting may have taken place then. However, no one called police to report shots being fired at the time.

Owensby was wanted for felonious assault and aggravated robbery last November after robbing a victim for $30 and a cell phone. Charges were dismissed against him following the incident.

Police are still searching for information on possible suspect.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Section at 513-352-3542 or CrimeStoppers at 513-352-3040,
