Runners get muddy for a good cause

MASON, OH (FOX19) - Thousands of women and men from all over the Tri-State are rising to the dirty challenge at this year's MuckFest MS.

Participants were running, swinging and sloshing through five miles of obstacles at Kingswood Park in Mason on Saturday morning.

Muckfest MS is much more than an obstacle course with mud. In the weeks prior to the event, the course is dug out with heavy machinery and a whole lot of water is added.

Twenty steel-constructed obstacles are then assembled and placed among the mud-filled trenches, slip-n-slide pits and moon-sized craters.

The fun doesn't stop when the muckers get hosed off.

The MuckFestival area has beer, food, music and front row seats to watch the remaining muckers cross the finish line. Beer and lunch are both included with the registration fee.

Muckfest MS returns all of the event's fundraising revenue to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
