Stein holding competitions held at Newport Hofbrauhaus - Cincinnati News, Weather, Sports from FOX19 NOW-WXIX

Can you hold your beer? Prove it at Hofbrauhaus

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) -

Do you have the strongest beer-drinking forearms in the Tri-state?

Prove it this week at the Hofbrauhaus in Newport.

Hofbrauhaus is hosting their weekly stein holding championships in the restaurant's Newport Bier Hall.

Participants have to hold a full Hofbrauhaus bier stein straight out in front of them without bending their elbow. Whoever holds the stein the longest will have the opportunity to represent Hofbrauhaus Newport in New York City. The grand prize winner in New York will win a trip to Munich.

The stein holding competitions will be held every Friday and Saturday through August 3. The event starts daily at 7:00 p.m.

Winners from each day will be invited to the Hofbrauhaus Newport Championship on August 14. That winner will advance to New York.
