Young singers take part in Cincy Children's Choir Summer Festival

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Cincinnati Children's Choir 2013 Summer Festival kicked off Monday at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

The purpose of the week-long event is to strengthen students and support local music programs.

Young singers in third through ninth grade are selected by their music teachers to attend the festival. Students are then accepted on a first-come, first serve basis.

A Summer Festival Gala Concert will be held Saturday, August 3 at 3 p.m. inside Corbett Auditorium, featuring nearly 250 singers from the Tri-State.

The Cincinnati Children's Choir servers nearly 750 children each year in various choirs. For more information, visit
