CFD teaches fire safety to local homeless children
NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) -
The Cincinnati Fire Department and Cincinnati Fire Foundation took part in Faces without Places' 16th annual Yellow Bus Summer Camp on Wednesday to teach local homeless children about fire safety.
Faces without Places works to remove the barriers to education for homeless children by providing educational programs, school transportation, supplies and other services to thousands of youth in the Tri-State area.
Children ages 5-12 experiencing homelessness attend the eight-week camp coming from various shelters, motels and transitional living programs.
The 2013 camp theme is Health Habits Around the World. Attendees work on improving their math and reading skills and learn nutrition, exercise and healthy habits.
On Wednesday, the Cincinnati Fire Department taught fire safety to the kids at Newport on the Levee. The kids received a special safety bag made possible through a grant given to the Cincinnati Fire Foundation.
