Community rallies to battle growing heroin problem

Local law enforcement call it an epidemicHeroin.

A group of concerned residents gathered Friday afternoon for a rehabilitation rally at the Butler County Government Services Building on High Street.

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - The main goal of the rally was to educate those addicted to heroin and their families about the help that's available, as well as point out the need for more resources.

"The mothers of children are dying. I mean, it's a mess. You go to the parks, you find needles. You walk through the sidewalks, you walk out of Walgreens, we find needles that are laying on the street. And it's just got to stop," said Candy Murray Abbott told FOX19, who is the mother of an addict.

Multiple speakers who suffer from addiction and their families spoke at the rally.

In addition, the CEO of Sojourner Recovery Services highlighted the services they offer, a non-profit organization in Butler County that provides substance abuse treatment for women, men, adolescents and their families.
