CLEVES, OH (FOX19) - More than 100 volunteers spent their morning paddling down the Great Miami River clearing the shoreline of litter.
Give Back to Cincinnati Volunteers picked up their paddles on Saturday morning for a cause known as 'Don't Rock the Boat'. Rivers Unlimited, a statewide group created by citizens to protect and restore Ohio's rivers, partnered with Give Back Cincinnati for the project.
Volunteers convened at Blue Bell Beach in Cleves at 8 a.m. before heading down the river. A hovercraft was also on hand to assist in the cleanup.
"The Great Miami is under-loved compared to some others in our neighborhood," said Arron Rourke, River Unlimited Board of Trustees President in a press release. "We're going to give it some much needed attention, and I know from previous experience that the Give Back volunteers will be surprised by the wild, scenic experience they're about to have."
