Local high school in semi-finals of national social media contest

(FOX19) - A local high school has made it to the semi-finals of a national social media contest.

Mother of Mercy High School is competing in the Social Madness competition to raise $10,000 for the Mercy Beyond Borders program.

The contest is meant to gauge which company has the best social media engagement. Points are earned through activity on the school's Facebook and Twitter pages, supporters can also vote for Mercy once a day by visiting www.socialmadness.com, selecting Cincinnati,  and clicking through to the medium category.  Mercy is currently battling it out with an Austin Texas Credit Union, if the Westwood school wins they will advance to the final round against a St. Louis hotel or an Albuquerque radio station.

Mercy Beyond Borders aims to lift families in the South Sudan from destitution by educating women and girls, supporting women's Micro-Enterprise groups and improving maternal and childhood health.
