Firefighters battle blaze at Linnemann Funeral Home - Cincinnati News, Weather, Sports from FOX19 NOW-WXIX

Fire destroys Burlington funeral home

BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

Fire crews spent most of Tuesday putting out hot spots after a fire burnt a Burlington, KY funeral home to the ground.

The fire broke out at Linnemann Funeral Home, located in the 1900 block of Burlington Pike, just before 10 a.m.

More than 50 firefighters from Burlington, Hebron, Florence and Point Pleasant were on the scene immediately after it was reported, but the blaze was too strong to be contained right away.

"Everybody did their job as quickly and efficiently as they can, but sometimes the fire gets the upperhand before we get a chance to get it under control," explained Burlington Fire Chief Jeff Barlow.

Police say that no one was in the building at the time of the fire, nor any human remains.

"We have a central location in Erlanger where everyone is kept until the day of visitation," said Linnemann Funeral Home owner Guy Linnemann.

The Linnemann Funeral Home is a family business spanning six generations. The family tells FOX19 that the building is total loss and they plan to rebuild.

"We deal with much more tragic loss, and this building can be replaced," Linnemann added.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but officials say they don't suspect any foul play.

For those that have upcoming funeral services at the funeral home, they have two other locations in Erlanger and Covington. Those with questions can call (859) 727-1250.

In addition, several churches have volunteered their space to use for services.
