Emergency crews battled a house fire Tuesday afternoon in Newport.
It happened in the 700 block of Washington Avenue just before 3:30 p.m.
Fire officials believe the fire started in the kitchen of the home. Two people were inside at the time but managed to make it out safely.
Damage is estimated at $45,000. Authorities say the home is a total loss.
