(FOX19) - A United States Marine is walking across the country to remind citizens about the cost of freedom.
Sergeant Chuck Lewis, a Vietnam War veteran, is traveling 3,300 miles on foot over a six-month span.
Lewis hopes to raise $50,000 for wounded and disabled veteran programs. He is also connecting with students, adults, civic, veteran and religious organizations through speaking engagements and interviews along the way.
He began his journey in Everett, Washington and will end in Washington D.C. at the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial. On Tuesday, his trek took him through the Tri-State!
Lewis hopes the money and awareness will provide tools and training for combat veterans and their families to assist in the successful transition back into their communities.
