Indiana State Police say a man is arrested on drug charges while trying to bail his friend out of jail.

ISP says early Thursday morning, around 3:00 a.m., Trooper Paul Stolz was at the Gibson County Jail dropping off paperwork for an arrest he made earlier in his shift.

Authorities say Trooper Stolz noticed 20-year-old Dalton Helsley pacing back and forth in the lobby of the jail acting suspicious.

Helsley was at the jail to bond out a friend that was arrested earlier.

Officials say Trooper Stolz talked to Helsley and noticed his eyes were dilated and his speech was slurred.

ISP says Trooper Stolz went outside and checked Helsley's vehicle and saw two partially burnt hand rolled roaches and rolling papers in plain view. Authorities say they found that roaches contained synthetic marijuana.

Officials say a plastic baggie containing "plant like material consistent with synthetic marijuana" was also found under the front passenger seat.

Helsley was arrested and put in the Gibson County Jail where he is currently being held on a $750 cash bond.
