A mother appeared in court Thursday morning after being accused of child endangerment in relation to her 8-year-old daughter.

Christina Sturgill, 31, is accused of creating a substantial risk of health by violating a duty of care over a period of time to her daughter.

Court documents indicate that Sturgill's 8-year-old daughter suffered from weight loss, low weight, and low BMI as a result of poor nourishment.

Authorities say that Sturgill failed to seek needed medical treatment for the child and has a previous history of child abuse.

Sturgill is in jail and has bond set $500,000 each for two counts of endangering and child neglect.
