HIGHLAND COUNTY, OH (FOX19) - A Lynchburg, Ohio man was killed Friday in a motorcycle crash in Highland County.
It happened just before 11 a.m. on U.S. 50 at Danville Road in Union, just west of Hillsboro.
James Patton, 52, was on a Harley Davidson motorcycle headed eastbound on U.S. 50. Betty Shelton, 33, of Hillsboro, was driving a Chevrolet Sonic northbound on Danville Road.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Shelton braked at the stop sign at the intersection of U.S. 50 and Danville Road. Deputies say Shelton failed to yield when she made a left turn onto U.S. 50.
Patton's motorcycle, who was approaching the intersection on U.S. 50, hit the side of the Chevrolet, and he was thrown off. He was not wearing a helmet.
Deputies say Patton was transported to Highland District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Wilmington Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
