HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Police have possibly identified the body of a suspect who drowned in a pond early Sunday morning.

The Warren County Sheriff's Office have recovered and identified the body of 26-year-old Jeffery Felix, who is believed to be the suspect of a Hamilton Township theft and police chase.

Officers were called to the 9000 block of Swigert Road around 5:00 a.m. on Saturday following reports of a theft in progress. Witnesses reported that a suspicious man was loading items into the back of a pickup truck.

Upon arrival, police saw a dark colored pickup matching the description of the suspect vehicle. Police say the vehicle fled the residence and proceeded through a field and into a wooded area.

Hamilton Township Officers pursued the vehicle. Police say the suspect vehicle became stuck and the suspect bailed out and ran from the scene.

While searching the area, officers heard a man yelling from a pond nearby. Officers spotted, what they believe, was the male suspect in the middle of the pond struggling to stay above water. Authorities say that the man quickly disappeared under water and did not resurface.

Fire units were called the scene in the 9400 block of Zoar Road along with the Hamilton County Task Force One Dive Team.

Police say that the body of a deceased male was recovered from the pond around 10:45 a.m.

Officers say they found what appeared to be stolen property in the suspect's car.

The investigation is ongoing.
