3 injured in Ripley Co. crash

RIPLEY COUNTY, IN (FOX19) - Numerous injuries have been reported following two-vehicle accident in Ripley County.

The accident happened just after 3:30 p.m. Sunday on County Road 400 East, just south of County Road 300 South.

Police say that the two vehicles collided at the top of a hill. Both drivers and a 17-year-old passenger suffered injuries in the accident.

Authorities say that Sandra Peak, 42 of Dillsboro, was driving a 2005 Chrysler minivan when the accident occurred. Peak's minivan collided with a 1999 Chevrolet SUV driven by 18-year-old Joshua Welsh.

Officers say that Peak appeared to have broken her collarbone and ankle while Welch had a fractured femur.

Welch's 17-year-old passenger also suffered a break to his left arm.

Both Welch and his passenger were flown to UC Medical Center for treatment. Peak was transported to Margaret Mary Health.

Police say that it is unclear if seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash.

The crash is currently under investigation.
