TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Toledo Police have identified the body found on Buckeye Street in north Toledo on July 10.

Police say the body, which was decomposed when found, is that of 24-year-old Zak Burton.

According to police, Burton was reported missing back on Jan. 28, 2013, but was last seen in May 2012. Police say DNA results confirm the body is Burton.

Burton's body was found badly decomposed July 10, after someone who used to live at the Buckeye residence discovered his body in the garage.

Police were treating it as a suspicious death after an initial autopsy could not come up with a sex, race or gender. However, autopsy results now show Burton was shot, according to Toledo Police.

Police are investigating Burton's death as a homicide.
