PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Phoenix police and federal agents raided two homes Wednesday and arrested several people as part of a drug operation.

The raids took place in homes at 99th Avenue and Indian School Road,  35th Avenue and Happy Valley Road and in the 9300 block of W. Washington Street in Tolleson.

Phoenix police are calling this a substantial bust in a narcotics investigation they have been working on for months.

Drugs and guns were found at two homes in Phoenix.

Investigators from Homeland Security and Phoenix police arrested or detained six people and seized five pounds of meth, heroine, marijuana and about a dozen rifles and handguns.

Police said it's an operation that was active on both sides of the border, but other than a white box truck parked outside of the rental home on occasion, neighbors had no idea criminal activity was just a few doors down.

In Tolleson, a search warrant was served and four suspects were taken into custody. They were Fidel Antonio Rodriguez, 48, of Avondale; Antonio Jesus Raizola, 53, of Tolleson;  Francisco Javier Hernandez-Perez, 27, of Culiacan Mexico and 34-year-old Gaspar De Jesus Heredia-Augilar of Culiacan Mexico.

The suspects were booked into the Maricopa County Jail on charges of possession of narcotics in a drug free school zone and weapons offenses.

The incident took place within 1,000 feet of school grounds. Tolleson Union High School was placed into lock-down as a precautionary measure.

During the search, 7 kilos of cocaine were seized worth an estimated $189,000.
