Tens of thousands of roller coaster fans pass through Kings Dominion's gates every week, but if you're not careful, the day of entertainment can really put the squeeze on your wallet.
My family grew up coming to King's Dominion, and I didn't appreciate the money my parents spent for our entertainment. Now that I'm the parent, I'm not paying full price - and I'll show you how to do the same.
The regular price for a day of fun here is $61.99 per person. Parking is another $15, but King's Dominion now offers two new bundle deals that are guaranteed to save you money.
"We have a basic tier, which is $54.99, and that includes admission to the park, parking here at the park as well as a souvenir cup for 2013 at Kings Dominion," said King's Dominion PR Manager Gene Petriello.
That souvenir cup is normally $10. With it, you get free drinks for the entire day and 99 cent refills if you bring it back another day. The deal saves you more than $30.
The premium package costs $10 more, but you get a dining plan and admission to "Dinosaurs Alive."
"The premium deal is $64.99 plus tax. In reality, if you look at the real price, the gate admission itself is $61.99. That whole package together is over one hundred dollars."
Both of those deals are good through October 27, but there are other ways to save. From August 30 through Labor Day, all season-pass holders can bring up to six friends for only $24.99 per person.
Virginia Recreation and Park society offers $39 tickets for weekends in the fall, but you can save even more using the code "jdrf13" on King's Dominion's website. That knocks the price down to $29.99. If you buy a 2014 gold or platinum pass, you can enjoy one day at the park this season for free.
Be careful if you order from third party websites. The fine print often states that these tickets are only good for certain days of the year.
