ALBANY, OR (KPTV) -

A U.S. Postal Service worker is accused of forcing his way into the home of a 75-year-old woman and sexually abusing her.

Daniel Gray, 48, of Tangent, was arrested earlier this week.

Albany police said someone called 911 at around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday from the Edgewood Mobile Home Park along Mountain View Drive SE. A woman stated that a short time earlier, Daniel Gray knocked on her door and told her he had a delivery for her, police said.

Gray pushed his way inside the woman's home, grabbed her and tried to kiss her, then touched her in a private area before taking off, police said.

Neighbors told FOX 12 that the woman then went next door to ask for help.

"We've got a good park, you know," said neighbor Eddie Davisson, who is part of the mobile home park's neighborhood watch program. "And I just couldn't hardly believe it that something like this would happen in our park."

Gray has been delivering mail to the area for the last couple of years, neighbors said, and the mobile home park has a specific area assigned for mail delivery.

There's no indication that Gray has had any prior run-ins with the law, police said.

"I'm really glad I have a post office box," said one neighbor, who did not want to be identified. "I think it's really sad. I mean we have a lot of elderly people that live in here. And he's younger. That's just ... It's crazy. It's hard to believe."

Gray was arrested on charges of first-degree sex abuse and first-degree burglary. He posted bail Wednesday and was released from the Linn County Jail.

Gray is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 18.

Neither Gray nor the U.S. Postal Service could be reached for comment on Thursday evening.
