XU, Miami students head back to class

(FOX19) - Students at Xavier and Miami University began fall classes on Monday.

Xavier officials have been working to accommodate the record-breaking class of 2017, which is the fifth straight undergraduate class with more than 1,000 students enrolled.

"This freshman class is our biggest ever. We have nearly 1,300 students in this class. It's very diverse. Twenty percent are from underrepresented categories including first year students, and it's also our biggest class from out-of-state, 54 percent of these students are from outside of Ohio," said XU spokeswoman Kelly Leon.

Over 15,000 students in Oxford, Ohio began the fall semester Monday at Miami University (MU). Thousands of students also went back to MU regional locations in Hamilton, Middletown and West Chester.

Wishing everyone a great school year!
