Cincinnati is the first city in Ohio to host a World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Event. Horseshoe Casino kicked off the 12-day event on Thursday.
Two winners from Cincinnati will move on to the WSOP National Championship in May 2014.
"This year we'll have 100 players from this year's circuit in Atlantic City to play for a $1 million prize pool. A minimum of two players here in Cincinnati that play in our circuit will be a part of that exclusive 100-player field," explained Horseshoe Poker Manager Jason Newman.
The series is the traveling version of the televised Las Vegas competition. Nearly 80,000 players compete in the series, and it is poker's longest running tournament in the world.
