Bush To Address The UN Today

Bush set to address UN General Assembly

President Bush's attention shifts from the campaign to the world stage today as he addresses the opening session of the UN General Assembly. Aides say the president will argue before the world body that his policies in Iraq and his efforts to promote democracy have made the world a better place.

Bush is expected to urge skeptical nations to join with the United States in its efforts to stabilize Iraq and establish a representative government there.

The president is also expected to promise no let-up in the war on terror but aides say he'll balance out the tough talk with equal emphasis on humanitarian issues, such as efforts to treat and wipe out AIDS.
