Peterson's Theories

Testimony: Scott Peterson had two theories about wife's disappearance

The Scott Peterson trial continues today with Modesto, California, police detective Craig Grogan expected to return to the stand. Grogan told the court yesterday that Peterson offered two theories on the circumstances surrounding his missing wife within a week of her disappearance. Grogan says Peterson initially theorized his wife was robbed in the park by a transient who wanted jewelry she had inherited from her grandmother.

A week later, he suggested she was kidnapped for their unborn child.

Shortly before her death, Laci Peterson inherited 100-thousand dollars worth of jewelry from her grandmother. She stood to gain another 160-thousand dollars from the estate. The judge in the case says the prosecution could wrap up its case next week.
