Campaign discusses importance of health insurance

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A non-profit focusing on health care coverage joined Cincinnati State students and other community members on Wednesday to discuss the importance health insurance in the lives of young people.

Enroll America is a collaborative organization with a mission to increase the number of uninsured Americans enrolled with health coverage by the Affordable Care Act.

Get Covered America is a national campaign by Enroll America that focuses on educating consumers about the benefits of health insurance coverage and new options that will soon be made available by the Affordable Care Act.

"Right now, we know that there are 1.3 million Ohioans across the state who are currently uninsured and will benefit from what's coming this fall," said Enroll America President Anne Filipic. "Just to give a sense of who those folks are, actually over half of them are between the ages of 18 and 40, and we know that the average age here at Cincinnati State is 28, so it's really the students here at Cincinnati State that stand to benefit."

The Affordable Care Act goes into effect October 1.
