CULLMAN, AL (WSFA) -

Pumpkin pie, anyone? There's plenty of ingredients left over! The Alabama state record for largest pumpkin was broken over the weekend at the Farm Y'all Festival in Cullman, and a giant pumpkin was dropped from a crane.

The new record pumpkin weighed 903 pounds and was grown by Trent Boyd of Trent Boyd Harvest Farm in Cullman County. Boyd is no stranger to big pumpkins. He broke his own previous record of 885 pounds. A second pumpkin he brought weighed in at an impressive 870 pounds.  You can see video of that pumpkin drop HERE.

A national record 276 pound watermelon was also weighed-in and grown by Frank Mudd of Kentucky.

After the event, Boyd strapped the smaller of his two pumpkins onto a crane, raised it hundreds of feet in the air and dropped it to the ground.

Cullman Mayor Max Townson pulled the cord to release the pumpkin. It sounded like a bomb going off and exploded when it hit the ground. Children and adults alike delighted in playing with the pumpkin remains and searching for seeds.
