MASON, OH (FOX19) - After finding out his grandfather had been diagnosed with prostate cancer, Mason Middle School student Robbie Grischy sprang into action.
The eighth grader is raising awareness and showing support for his grandpa by holding a yard sale. The yard sale, held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 4601 Wesley Court, collected funds for prostate cancer research and finding a cure.
All proceeds from Saturday's yard sale will be donated to the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk. The run will be held on September 7 at the Urology Group in Norwood, Ohio.
The project started when Robbie contacted friends and family, asking if they would be interested in donating items that they're not using anymore. After reaching out to more than 25 families, the yard sale had over 20 tables of items up for sale.
Robbie collected, sorted and priced all items while lining up over 50 volunteers to work the event. Most of the volunteers were from Mason Intermediate, Mason Middle School and Mason High School.
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death in American men.
