Mothers rally to improve birth practices

CLIFTON, OH (FOX19) - A nationwide rally was held on Labor Day calling attention to maternity care, including a local group of mothers, fathers, children and healthcare professionals at Burnet Woods.

The event was one of 150 rallies across the country.

The second annual Rally to Improve Birth was organized by, a non-profit organization working to improve the maternal health care system and calling for more evidence-based birth practices, rather than what is "routine."

Attendees called for better practices that put mother and the baby first, including reducing the number of caesarian sections. According to, the country's C-section rate is one in every three births.

Most of the mothers at the rally said they opted for natural home births or water births.
