NASCAR's Sam Hornish, Jr. visits Children's Hospital

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Patients at Cincinnati Children's Hospital hung out with NASCAR's Sam Hornish, Jr. on Tuesday.

Hornish visited the Tri-State to promote the Kentucky Speedway's doubleheader race weekend, scheduled for September 20-22. On Tuesday, he took a break from the fast lane to spend some quality time with his youngest fans.

"There's a lot of kids out there that have a tremendous amount of different issues and using the little bit of celebrity that I have to be able to come out and excite some of them and talk to them about racing, whatever it might be on a certain day, it's always a good thing," Hornish told FOX19. "I think one of the great things about me being able to do this is at times it brings awareness to the hospital."

He raced Meteorologist Jeff Creighton through the parking lot during the FOX19 Morning News and made a stop at Full Throttle Indoor Karting in Springdale to promote the NASCAR Nationwide Series Kentucky 300 and the Arca Series Z-Loop 1-50.
