New plan opts for state sales tax to pay for bridge replacement

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Tolls may not be in the future for the Brent Spence Bridge.

There is a new plan to pay for the bridge replacement that does not involve using tolls.

Developers want state sales tax to cover the $2.5 billion cost.

Louisville's bridge replacement is using tolls. Anyone who crosses the Kennedy or East End bridges when the project is complete will pay about $2.00 every time.

Louisville's bridge construction projects are set to be completed in 2016.
