AUBURN, AL - Nick Marshall was sharp in the first half, Auburn's running game carried the load in the second, and Gus Malzahn got to breathe a big sigh of relief Saturday night.

Auburn beat Arkansas State 38-9 in Jordan-Hare Stadium, an especially sweet win for Malzahn, who was the Red Wolves' head coach last season.

Malzahn improved to 2-0 as Auburn's head coach and snapped the nation's second-longest winning streak of nine game in the process.

Auburn's defense continued to play no-touchdown defense. The Tigers held Washington State without a touchdown the final 2 1/2 quarters in the opener, and was at it again in the second game.

Marshall threw an 18-yard touchdown pass to freshman Marcus Davis and a perfect 68-yard long strike to Sammie Coates for another. By halftime, Marshall had thrown and rushed for more yards than he had in the Tigers' 31-24 win over Washington State in the opener.

Auburn rushed for 400 yards.

Marshall was 7-of-12 passing for 139 yards and another 59 yards rushing at the half. He finished hitting 10-of-17 passes for 147 yards.

Tre Mason and Corey Grant carried the load in the second half.

Grant scored on a 17-yard run in the first quarter. Mason scored on an 11-yard run in the third quarter. Cameron Artis-Payne added a 12-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Cody Parkey added a field goal in the fourth quarter.

South Carolina (8-3, 5-3 SEC) shrugged off a shaky offensive start and took care of the Wofford Terriers (9-2, 7-1 SoCon) at Williams-Brice Stadium. South Carolina started the game with a leaky drive, followed by a punt in Wofford territory. The Terriers quickly answered back with a sustained drive of their own, grinding over seven minutes off the clock after a facemask penalty pushed Wofford past midfield. Wofford was unable to capitalize, though, and cashed in with a field goal. ...
