CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - An empty downtown mall is being reinvigorated as the main venue for the Cincinnati Film Festival.
Tower Place Mall, a once thriving retail center, has been left empty. A lone Subway in the food court served as the lone tenant for several months before moving out in August.
The mall was left empty until the Cincinnati Film Festival moved in. Empty stores were converted into screening rooms, with filmmakers networking between screenings in lounges that were once abandoned shops. The food court now serves as a convention setting and papered storefronts are adorned with art.
Over 100 feature, documentary and short films will be screened at the Tower Place Mall. Highlighted special events will be held at the 20th Century Theater in Oakley, Memorial Hall, the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County and the Duke Energy Convention Center.
The Cincinnati Film Festival runs from September 5 through the 15.
