2 women arrested after Batesville traffic stop

BATESVILLE, IN (FOX19) - Two women have been arrested following a traffic stop in Batesville, Indiana.

Officers were called to the Canterbury Apartments on Arlington Drive Friday evening. Police received a tip that a woman wanted for possession of cocaine and theft was in an apartment in the building.

Police say that 20-year-old Kayla McGovern was wanted out of Jefferson County. Officers arriving at the apartment were told that McGovern had just left the residence and was heading to Oldenburg in a black 2003 Ford Focus.

Officers searched the area and were able to locate the vehicle near Arlington Avenue and State Route 229.

Several troopers stopped the car. Police say that McGovern was a passenger in the stopped vehicle.

During the course of the investigation, police also arrested the driver. Officers say that Vanessa Erfmeier, 20, was found to be in possession of drugs and marijuana.

McGovern was transported to Jefferson County to be held on her warrant. Erfmeier was transported to Franklin County Jail where she faces drug-related felony charges.
