CANTON, OH (WOIO) -
Canton police have made an arrest in the murder of a World War II veteran.
Bennie Angelo, 87, was shot to death in his own home on Endrow Avenue in January of 2007. The killer than set the house on fire. Investigators believe the fire was intentionally set to conceal the crime.
On Wednesday at 9 a.m., Detectives from the Canton Police Department's Detective Bureau, The Special Investigative Unit and Agents from the FM.L Safe Streets Task Force executed an arrest warrant on Prospect Ave. S.W.
Detectives arrested Chester Ray Crank, 33, with warrants charging him with aggravated murder and aggravated burglary in regards to the 2007 homicide.
Detectives also executed a simultaneous search warrant for additional evidence at Crank's 2012 19th N.E. residence.
Detectives are continuing to investigate and further charges or arrests may be pending in this case.
