WAUSEON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Wauseon Police say they were led right to a couple alleged criminals thanks to technology.

Two teens were caught with stolen items, allegedly taken from several cars. Police say they were able to catch them thanks to an accidental phone call one of the teens made on their cell phone – to 911.

Police used GPS to track where the call came from, and sent an officer to make sure everyone was okay. The call led police to a bike trail in Rotary Park, where the teens were found. Police say the teens then admitted to breaking into cars that night.

"It's not the first time we've had anybody call us and accidentally call 911," said Police Chief Keith Torbet. "But it is the first time we've ever had a criminal do it while they were in the act of committing a crime."

The two were arrested and taken to jail on charges of theft, criminal trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, and underage alcohol consumption.
