14 year-old flown to hospital after bicycle accident

OTTAWA COUNTY, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A 14 year-old boy was seriously injured riding his bicycle Sunday afternoon after being hit by a pickup truck in Ottawa County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Marilyn Cuevas, 59, of Port Clinton was driving in the westbound lane of Lockwood Rd. a little after 4pm.

14 year-old Joe Rojas was riding his bicycle, also in the westbound lane of Lockwood Rd.

When Ms. Cuevas moved into the east bound lane to pass the bicycle, Rojas turned left in front of the pickup and was struck.

Rojas was taken to St. Vincent's hospital in Toledo by helicopter.

Neither Ms. Cuevas nor her passenger were injured in the accident.

The crash remains under investigation and no citation has been issued at this time.
