If you attended Oktoberfest Zinzinnati 2013, it's no surprise the event had record attendance.

An estimated 600,000 people danced, drank beer and enjoyed delicious German eats at this year's festival. Organizers say that number is a 20 percent increase from the previous record set in 2012.

The event set an all-time Saturday attendance record this year as well, up 25 percent over last year.

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati opened for the first time on Friday evening and also welcomed thousands of Green Bay Packers fans in town for Sunday's Cincinnati Bengals game.

"Our Saturday crowd was the largest ever in our 38-year history," said Patrick Sheeran, Vice President of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber, the producers of Oktoberfest Zinzinnati. "We also had an impressive crowd at our first-ever Friday night opening despite nearly three inches of rain falling. When you combine both of those days with an extremely strong turnout for Sunday, we are thrilled with this year's Oktoberfest and how the event continues to drive awareness and economic impact for our downtown. It continues to be a world-class event, but the best is always yet to come, and we are already looking toward next year."

Oktoberfest Zinzinnati is a free, non-gated event. Organizers base the estimated attendance number on vendor feedback, hotel bookings and sales projections.

Good news if you're already planning for next year: Oktoberfest Zinzinnati 2014 will continue to be held on the third weekend of September (19, 20, 21) in conjunction with Cincinnati's sister city, Munich.
