RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A man in the business of saving lives is accused of putting one in jeopardy. A Richmond EMT is accused of giving three teenage girls marijuana-laced cookies and one of those girls had to be rushed to the hospital.

19-year-old Trevon Cannon faces three counts of felony child neglect and one count of distributing marijuana to a minor.

According to the Richmond Ambulance Authority, Cannon is currently on administrative leave and won't return to work until the court process plays out.

RAA made clear over the phone Wednesday that the crimes Cannon allegedly committed were not while he was on the job but at an off-duty event.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse reports that it is "virtually impossible" to overdose on marijuana but it can make someone physically ill.

Cannon is currently out on a $2,000 bond but couldn't be reached for comment at his Highland Springs home.
